Menace hosts Iowa's all★stars

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Monday, June 12, 2017 – Iowa’s high school all-star games are returning to Valley Stadium.

The Des Moines Menace hosts the 2017 all-star action the next two Saturdays, with the boys going first. The games are presented by Soccer Master and organized by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

This is the Menace’s fifth straight year hosting the all-star games, comprising graduated seniors who are nominated by high school coaches.

Below are the rosters for the boys’ teams. The girls’ rosters will be announced next week, leading up to their all-star game on June 24 at 4:30 p.m.


Saturday, June 17
5 p.m.: 2017 Iowa East-West All-Star Cup (Boys)
7:30 p.m.: Premier Development League match, Thunder Bay Chill at Des Moines Menace
Venue: Valley Stadium (artificial turf) in West Des Moines, Iowa
Admission: $10 for ages 6 and older; one ticket is good for both games
Promotions: FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitić will make an appearance. DETAILS

Congratulations to the 2017 Iowa High School champions:

Boys Class 1A: Iowa City Regina defeated Davenport Assumption – 1-0
Boys Class 2A: Norwalk defeated Cedar Rapids Xavier – 2-1 OT (4-1 kicks from the mark)
Boys Class 3A: Iowa City High defeated West Des Moines Valley – 1-0

The boys’ championships were June 3 at Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines.


ABOUT THE MENACE: The Des Moines Menace provides the highest level of soccer in Iowa. In its 24th season, the Menace men’s team competes in the Premier Development League (PDL). In its sixth season, the Menace women’s team is part of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). With loyal support, the Menace men’s and women’s teams play their home games at the Valley Stadium in West Des Moines to provide family-fun entertainment. The Menace organization provides the growth of the game of soccer in Iowa with their youth soccer programs, including Junior Menace (ages 3-9), Menace Youth Academy (ages six and older), and tournaments, camps and clinics.
