WEST DES MOINE, Iowa – Wednesday, July 27, 2016 – The Premier Development League’s 2016 All-Central Conference Team includes a defensive duo from the Des Moines Menace.

Goalkeeper Nico Campbell and center-back Austin Ledbetter have received all-conference honors, announced today by league officials.

In his second year between the pipes for the Menace, Campbell posted a 0.44 Goals Against Average and made 36 saves in nine regular-season appearances. Campbell, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, is a senior-to-be at Valparaiso.

Ledbetter solidified a Des Moines defense that allowed just seven goals – tied with Michigan for the best in the PDL. Ledbetter, a St. Louis native, led the team with 855 minutes played in league games. Heading into his senior year at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Ledbetter is a finalist for the Hermann Trophy Award.

This marks the third time an all-conference squad has featured a pair of Menace teammates. The all-Central Conference team featured Tomas Boltnar and Danilo Oliveira in 2006, and Chris Hellmann and Ralphie Lundy in 2014.

The Menace went 10-2-2 to three-peat as the champion of the Heartland Division. Campbell and Ledbetter were also key cogs in the team’s early-season run to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

A representative from each team voted on the postseason honors, which are based on regular-season performance. Teams are allowed to vote only on players within their respective divisions. Thunder Bay’s Anthony Putrus and Sullivan Silva also represent the Heartland Division on an all-conference team that has seven members from the Great Lakes Division.
