The 2016 Des Moines Menace has gotten very close over the summer, but do you ever wonder what they really think of each other?
The team has spoken and the votes have been counted. Here’s the inside scoop about the Menace straight from the players.
Question 1: Who is the team clown? Jack Griffin
Honestly, no surprise at all. If you’ve ever had a conversation with him, you’ll quickly realize very few things are off limits for this Brit. Not to mention his accent makes everything sound a bit sarcastic.
Question 2: Who is the most likely to play in the MLS? Austin Ledbetter
As the anchor of the Menace defense, Ledbetter has helped the team maintain a league best 29-goal differential (35-6).
Question 3: Who is the most likely to score a hat trick? Leigh Veidman
Considering he already scored four goals in one match this season, Veidman was one of the obvious choices for this award. Our second guess would’ve been Tommy Barlow after his hat trick in the Winnipeg game.
Question 4: Who is the messiest? Devyn Jambga and Austin Polster
Unfortunately, the two messiest players on the team live together. Think about their poor roommates.
Question 5: Who is the best singer? Tommy Barlow
Although the team may have heard his voice, it is still unproven to the Menace interns. However, there is still time for Tommy to prove his skills to us – we’ll keep you updated.
Question 6: Who is the most likely to get a red card? Elvir Ibisevic
Elvir may be the youngest on the team, but he definitely isn’t the quietest on the field.
Question 7: Who is the best actor on the field? Raul Gonzalez
This was the closest vote with many players receiving a nomination. The Menace must have an Academy Award winner on the team.
Question 8: Who has the best bromance? Austin Ledbetter and Jack Griffin
It’s a little interesting that these two somehow won considering Ledbetter voted for himself and former Menace teammate, Keegan McHugh. Is Ledbetter just missing McHugh or has a new bromance blossomed?
Honorable mention goes to the Jamaican Bromance (Nico Campbell and Ramone Howell) who were just one vote behind the winners.
Question 9: Who is the biggest flirt? Ricky Hoegg
The second no-brainer on the list. Using his flirting skills, Ricky could probably convince head coach Matko to go on a date with him.
Question 10: Who is the most likely to play for the Menace again next summer? Sean Hoek
Sean played for Des Moines during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, so maybe the team is thinking he’ll come back for a fourth season?
Question 11: Who is most likely to get yelled at by Matko? Ethan
As the equipment manager, it is Ethan’s job to tend to Matko’s every wish at training. “I don’t work well under pressure,” said Ethan in the midst of a Menace crisis.
Question 12: Who is the biggest drama queen? Matko
“You have no idea,” said Menace GM Matt Homonoff.
