WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Wednesday, June 29, 2016 – Scoring in five consecutive matches has netted Premier Development League honors in three straight weeks for Menace captain Leigh Veidman.
Veidman, who led the Menace’s scoring parade last weekend, is on the current PDL Team of the Week, announced today. He was also part of the PDL Team of the Week on June 15, and a week ago he received honorable mention from the league.
On Friday at Valley Stadium, Veidman bagged four goals in the span of 38 minutes of a 7-0 rout of WSA Winnipeg. He rested the next night, when the Menace completed an emphatic home sweep with a 9-0 victory. Teammate Tommy Barlow, who picked up a hat trick on Saturday, earned PDL Team of the Week honorable mention.
The Menace is 8-1-1 after dropping a 1-0 decision at Chicago yesterday. Looking to rebound from its first PDL setback in more than a year, Des Moines heads to Kokomo (Ind.) for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader.
UP NEXT: After closing its road schedule this weekend, the Menace hosts arch-rival Thunder Bay (July 9), exhibition foe Toledo United FC (July 15) and St. Louis (July 16) to close its 2016 slate.
