Mascot Journals: Unveiling Maniac 2.0

Menace fans –
Thanks for joining us for Saturday’s anticipated festivities at Valley Stadium. It was great seeing so many of you at the Menace’s regular-season opener!

After months of hard work to get in the best shape of my mascot life, my grand unveil turned out exactly as I envisioned.

My good friend Surge entertained the crowd during the first half of the Menace’s match against Chicago Fire U23, and at halftime, a mysterious package appeared on the field. The special delivery? Me, of course!

To the que of “Eye of a Tiger,” the package began to rumble and shake until I exploded out, and the new and improved me was revealed.

I showed off my new strength by punching through numerous cement blocks and lifting heavy dumbbells with ease. My adrenaline was pumping and I was feeding off the cheers from the crowd.

My favorite part of the night was getting to see all of the fans throughout the second half of the game. I love nothing more than taking photos and cheering on the Menace with you guys. Did I mention the W the Menace can tack onto its record? That made the night even better!

Seeing your smiling faces at the stadium made me the happiest mascot ever. I will continue to work hard to stay in tip-top shape, and I hope to see many of you at future home games. Thank you for all of your support for me and for your Des Moines Menace!

Thanks again to Scheels All Sports, the YMCA Healthy Living Center, my buddies Surge and Spike, Kum & Go and the Menace Academy U11 girls team. I never could have gotten into the best shape of my life without each of you. And, a special thanks to my friend and mentor, the LA Galaxy’s Cozmo, who has provided much-appreciated guidance and encouragement in this journey.

Go, Menace!
