Maniac couldn't keep up with the Menace Academy U11 girls. He's going to keep working hard in his preparations for the fast-approaching May 21 unveil.

Menace fans –
How crazy is it that the Menace’s regular-season opener is already next week?
This offseason, I’ve been on a mission to get in shape for a big unveil of the fitter, stronger version of me – next Saturday night (May 21) at Valley Stadium.
To get into true soccer shape I thought I should probably play some soccer. Last Tuesday, I went to the Menace’s practice fields in Grimes to participate in Junior Menace (for ages 3-9). I had a blast playing with the boys and girls, and I was amazed at how skilled these kids are. Maybe I’ll check back in with them at Menace Camp this summer.
While at Junior Menace, I noticed the Menace Academy U11 girls team practicing on the next field over. I decided to run over there and ask the coach, Russ Fortune, if I could join their practice. Now, I’ve been working out for a couple months so I figured I was in pretty good shape. However, as soon as Russ sent me on the training field, I was quickly humbled!
The U11s were training hard for their back-to-back weekends at the Just for Girls Tournament (They took second place in their division. Congrats!) and this weekend’s Menace Midwest Invitational. I simply couldn’t keep up with these girls, and they taught me a thing or three.
For the time I have left before May 21, I plan on working out as much as I can and eating only healthy foods. I’ve come a long ways, and I’m really going to push myself!
I hope to see each and every one of you at Valley Stadium next Saturday for the Menace’s Premier Development League season opener.
Your mascot friend,
