Menace fans –
They say you can’t outrun a bad diet…and boy, were they right. With this in mind, I thought just working out with Spike and Surge wasn’t going to be enough to get me into shape.
I decided to check out the new Kum & Go on 86th Street in Johnston, because I heard they had fresh food options. When I arrived, I was pleased to see a Go Fresh Market stocked full with salads and sandwiches made right in the store, which has plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space. What more could you want?
Oh wait, I didn’t even mention the fruits, sides and drinks they also carry. Sean, the store’s general manager, took me on a tour and educated me on better food choices I could make. Sean (pictured wearing a black t-shirt) and I filled a basket full of delicious options including: a turkey sandwich on nine-grain bread, a couple salads, veggie chips, Oberto jerky, Simply Orange juice, a banana and an apple. And my new personal favorite: K&G Balance Blend, a mighty mix of sunflower seeds, raisins, pumpkin seeds, cashews and almonds. I even earned points for the food I bought by using my Kum & Go &Rewards card.
Now, I’m not going to lie to you guys. I have never been the best with eating healthy. But I knew this was the only way I could achieve my health goals. So, for the one month we have left, I am going to try to choose healthy food over junk food. I’m trading my burgers for salads, my candy for fruit, and my pop for water. This is my shot to get the six-pack I have been dreaming about. I know I can do this if I put my mind to it.
Can you believe we are just ONE MONTH away from the Menace’s regular-season opener at Valley Stadium? Hope to see you all at the Menace’s regular-season opener on May 21, when you can see the new, improved, healthier version of Yours Truly!
