Alec Bartlett is a brick wall in the fortress that is the Des Moines Menace’s rigid defense.
He was a staple for the 2014 Menace, going all 90 minutes in his 12 appearances for the Premier Development League regular-season champions. Bartlett and company allowed only seven goals – tied for best in the PDL a year ago.
The six-foot-four center-back is back for his third season with the Menace.
“I’m always thankful for the opportunity to play here and to be a part of something great,” Bartlett said. “It’s a great time to be with the guys and to compete for the championship trophy.”
A biology major on a pre-med track, Bartlett enters his senior season at Drake. Since transferring from Creighton in 2012, he has seen action in 50 games, tallying six points on two goals and two assists.
Bartlett, who hails from Overland Park, Kan., sits down with us to answer some questions for our first spotlight of the 2015 season.
