WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 – For Chris Hellmann and Javi Lopez, 2014 has been full of championships, celebrations and accolades.

Along with their Lynn University (Fla.) teammates, they finish this memorable year on top of the college game. After leading the Des Moines Menace to the Premier Development League’s regular-season crown, Hellmann and Lopez are NCAA Division-II champions.

The Lynn Fighting Knights clinched the national championship with a 3-2 triumph over Charleston (W.Va.) on Dec. 6 in Louisville. In the final, Hellmann – the tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player – scored two goals, including the title-winner.

Hellmann, who earned all-PDL status for the Menace last summer, has no shortage of individual honors from a college season in which he stockpiled a national-best 28 goals and 13 assists (tied for second). The sophomore sensation from Germany is a first-team all-American and the Player of the Year for the South Region and the Sunshine State Conference.

Lopez, a senior defender from Spain and a fan favorite with the 2012 and 2014 Menace, joined Hellmann on the first teams of their region and their conference.

Below is a lengthy list of honors earned by alumni of the Menace’s PDL team in 2014.
