WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Tuesday, July 29, 2014 – The Des Moines Menace’s Chris Hellmann and Ralphie Lundy are in select company.

Hellmann is a member of the 2014 All-Premier Development League Team, announced today. Lundy joined Hellmann on the PDL All-Central Conference Team, announced by the league yesterday.

Only the fourth Menace player to be named All-PDL, Hellmann racked up 25 points on nine goals and seven assists (tied for the league lead) – marking the highest point total by a Menace player since Tomas Boltnar posted identical stats in 2007.

Boltnar earned all-league status in 2003, 2005 and 2006. The PDL did not have an all-league team in 2002, when Boltnar earned the first of his back-to-back PDL MVP awards. John Sosa (2011) and Brandon Fricke (2013) also received all-league recognition.

Though an ankle injury limited him to 10 regular-season games, Lundy was second on the team with nine points (three goals and three assists).

Hellmann, a native of Cologne, Germany, prepares for his sophomore season at Lynn University (Fla.). Lundy, is a native of Charleston, S.C., a graduate of the College of Charleston and a former professional player (Caledonia AIA FC in Trinidad and Tobago).

They were instrumental in the Menace’s run to the 12-1-1 PDL regular-season championship. Des Moines carried an 11-match unbeaten streak into Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to the Michigan Bucks in the Central Conference’s bout for the postseason title.

This is only the second time a Menace duo has been part of the same all-conference squad (Boltnar and Danilo Oliveira in 2006).

Team management votes on the league’s postseason awards.
