WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 – Men’s and women’s soccer players are invited to try out for Iowa’s premier soccer teams.
The Des Moines Menace’s Premier Development League (men) and Women’s Premier Soccer League teams host open tryouts on Saturday, April 5 at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines.
The squads’ head coaches will lead the tryouts. Mike Jeffries will run the PDL tryout session, set for 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Kevin Schalk will head up the WPSL trial, scheduled for 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Presented by Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers, the Menace Open Tryouts will be the only opportunity in 2014 for soccer players to see if they have what it takes to play for the Menace's senior teams.
Registration is $80 for men and $30 for women; All participants receive two numbered t-shirts, and all trialists should wear black shorts and black socks.
The Menace men and women open the season in May.
ABOUT THE MENACE: The Des Moines Menace provides the highest level of soccer in Iowa. Entering its 21st season, the Menace men’s side competes in the 64-team United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL). The Menace’s women’s team played in the 2013 Women’s Premier Soccer League playoffs, after debuting as the Women’s League Soccer 2012 champions. The Menace teams play their home matches in a fun, family-friendly environment at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines.
