Julien Edwards, a member of the 2009 Menace, scored the game-winner in the 88th minute lifting No. 21 ranked Drake over No. 7 ranked Indiana on Thursday evening at the National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Drake's bout with Indiana was their first and only exhibition match of the season as they prepare to host DePaul on Tuesday, September 1st at the Cownie Soccer Complex beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs are looking for continued success this season after making it to the playoffs for the first time lasts season.
Tuesday's game is the inaugural Drake Soccer Goes Green event where the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a reusable grocery bag sporting the Drake Soccer logo courtesy of Hy-Vee. Any fan that brings a recyclable item such as aluminum cans, glass bottles and newspaper will get free admission to the game.
The team will also be sporting green uniforms in conjunction with the event that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds benefiting the Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew), EnrgPATH and the Center on Sustainable Communitites.
