2016 honor roll: Menace PDL

Austin Ledbetter (right) received a few awards from his senior season at SIUe; Like 2015 Menace alum Daniel Johnson, he received an invite to the 2017 Major League Soccer Combine.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 – More than 30 Des Moines Menace alumni earned honors from the 2016 college season.

And, by our count, 20 Menace alums dot the all-conference teams at the NCAA Division-I level – reported to be tops among Premier Development League franchises.

Of all the successes enjoyed by our former players this fall, perhaps no story stands out more than the memorable run of Austin Ledbetter and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville – a Cinderella team that pulled out a pair of thrilling shootout wins to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Ledbetter, a 2016 all-PDL Central Conference selection who captained the Heartland Division-champion Menace last summer, piled on plenty of plaudits this fall. He was the Missouri Valley Conference’s player of the year and defender of the year, and also the MVP of the MVC Tournament – which the Cougars won over host Missouri State, with the championship-clinching goal coming from Menace alum Devyn Jambga.

Congratulations to these Menace alumni on their 2016 honors:
